NCJW Raises $90,000 to Help Change Lives

As they “Let the Good Times Roll,” National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Houston Section grossed almost $90,000 to help change lives in the Houston  community at its annual fundraiser held at Lucky Strike Lanes in downtown Houston on Sunday, November 20.

Funds raised from the event will allow Greater Houston Section’s more than 800 members to continue their support of hands-on community service projects, including Aid to Victims of Domestic Violence (AVDA), Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), House of Tiny Treasures at SEARCH, Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) and its newest project, Human Traffick Stop, to raise awareness of human trafficking in our community and support rescued victims.

The good times literally rolled—with bowling balls, billiard balls and dice—at a unique venue, featuring an evening of fun and games and exciting new auction items and raffle prizes. Attired in chic but casual, comfortable threads, about 170 guests of all ages enjoyed bowling, pool, casino games, music, a photo booth and socializing.  Not your typical bowling alley fare, the fabulous finger food, including beef, chicken and salmon sliders, pizza, spring rolls and ice cream sundae bar, was worthy of any high-end caterer. In addition to the “raffle extravaganza,” where bidders deposited their raffle tickets in bowls in front of the specific items they wished to bid on, several other prizes were awarded.  Winner of the top bowler prize was Doug Freedman, and the top gambler was David Fishel.
